FOOD SAFETY & QUALITY POLICY

Founded in 1989, Martin Dessert specializes in the design and production of very high quality frozen desserts.
To comply with government regulatory requirements regarding food inspection and labeling, the company:

  • Has a certified food safety management system which is based on the FSSC 22000 standard in compliance with the GFSI “Global Food Safety Initiative” program;
  • Meets the requirements of the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) under the Food Regulation c. P-29, r.1;
  • Meets the requirements of the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations (R.S.C. (1985), c. F-27) as well as those of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR).

Management's priority is to ensure the safety and quality of food products, foster a culture of quality among staff, and guarantee customer satisfaction. Management is committed to promoting a culture of food safety and quality throughout the company. To ensure product safety, Martin Dessert relies on a skilled team responsible for managing its Food Safety Management System (FSMS), and on the involvement of all employees to ensure its effectiveness. Internal communication and sufficient resources are essential for the FSMS to function properly.

Martin Dessert also ensures that its food safety management system is kept up-to-date with high-quality information through external communication with its customers, suppliers, government authorities, and other partners in the food industry. By adopting its food safety policy, Martin Dessert, its suppliers, and all its staff commit to:

  • Prioritize food security
  • Meeting regulatory, customer and FSSC 22000 standard requirements;
  • To be constantly attentive to its customers;
  • Maintain internal and external communication;
  • To work continuously towards improving the quality of its processes, products and services;
  • To verify the extent to which its products and services meet the needs of its customers;
  • To promote the development of human resources skills and creativity;
  • Select suppliers who adhere to Martin Dessert's quality principles;
  • Working continuously towards the detection and prevention of fraud and food defense, where appropriate, is committed to producing safe products;
  • Strategically defines the company's challenges according to the stakeholders and ensures that their needs and expectations are met;
  • Ensures the implementation of a strategically determined action plan based on the company's internal and external challenges.

The company has also set measurable food safety and/or quality objectives with well-defined deadlines that allow for continuous improvement of its food safety system.

This food safety policy is known and understood by the stakeholders; the responsibilities that arise from it are shared by all employees of the company, from management to factory workers.

Our food safety policy confirms our commitment to prioritizing food safety and customer satisfaction. This certification is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and is obtained through an annual audit by the certification body AIB, which ensures that our food safety management system meets the standard's requirements for this certification.
